Our Motivation:

In 2003, children under the age of 18 accounted for 39% of the homeless population. Of these children, 42% were under the age of five (NLCHP, 2004). Today, families with children are among the fastest growing segments of the homeless population, hovering around 33%. 

Of the homeless adult population in the United States, most research shows single men as persons who are more likely to be homeless than single women. A 2005 study done by the U.S. Conference of Mayors revealed that single men comprise 51% of the homeless population versus 17% for single women. Furthermore, this study also made known that forty-percent of all homeless men in the U.S. have served in the armed forces. It is these statistics that motivate us; it is bearing witness to the many faces of poverty why LENI was created.

Our Vision:

In November 2006, the Life Empowerment Network was established by its founder and CEO, Dr. Carlton N. Young, with a simple goal in mind…end homelessness and its primary causes and help bring sustainability to families all across the United States.
