I came across a book in the Farm Campus at the University of Minnesota years ago entitled, Animal Intelligence. I thought this book to be a trenchant case in the area of the strengths and skills and adaptive behaviors many animal species exhibit compared to various individual humans. Did B.F. Skinner die with the realization he may not have come up to the intelligence level of his own rats? Ask Margaret Thatcher’s son, Mark Thatcher!

I don't know about Thatcher, but I shared a brief collegial period with Dr. Julie Vargas, Skinner's daughter in the College of Human Resources and Education. It was her younger sister, Deborah, who was the first child to experience Skinner's design for his Air Crib, providing both comfort and enrichment for his daughter. The design was featured in Ladies Home Journal and many couples used the design for their own children.
On the faculty with her husband, Dr. Ernest Vargas, who wasn't a behaviorist, Dr. Julie Vargas followed in her father's footsteps and advanced the field of of behaviorology. She is now the president of his foundation.
