Something else might be a factor to book covers. There are some things like the person who created the book cover, the person who created the story, the story’s theme, how the cover was created, or it could have something to do with the person’s personality, mood, or ethnic background. And then, the idea of self-published books would be considered. There is something to look at and consider when it comes to the quality of how the book was made.

     When book covers are created, the people who created them should be recognized and deserve praise. That was only my opinion. Anyway, the background of this certain person would relate to how the book cover’s style was created. If the person was good at illustrating and went to school and learned about art, then it would reflect on the style of the cover. If the person was only good at illustrating and never went to school, it would reflect as well. If the person never illustrated before, it would reflect too!

     And then, the person who created the book cover would have the consideration to the person who wrote the book. Authors do mind on their story, but they may mind on the art representing their story as well. If an illustrator were to do the design, he or she would listen so they can grab an understanding. They may read the story themselves to capture the idea of it. Then, they would get started on the design and keep the story in mind.

     When the designing of a book cover is in progress, the illustrator should really pay attention to how they are doing it. They could do whatever works best for them like on a sheet of paper, a canvas, a digital program, or something else. When they choose how they are going to do it, they should design it to the best of their ability!

     Depending on the person who created it, book covers could portray another meaning to the audience who looks at them, and it could trace all the way back to the illustrator. Everyone (or some) has feelings and backgrounds, and it can show when people put their best effort into something. When it comes to their personality, illustrators could create covers that are bubbly and bright, and illustrators could create covers that are dark and horrid (in a good way). When it comes to their mood, illustrators may be happy, or sad, or mad when they create a cover. When that is the case, the cover could portray a happy mood, or a depressing mood, or a raging mood.

     When it comes to their ethnic background, illustrators could create covers and bring in their culture into their art style. This could include art styles in American or Native American, Mexican or Hispanic, African, and Asian. When this is the case, book covers could portray not only the theme but the cultural aspects of an ethnic group. Illustrators could even include the author’s ethnic background as well. 

     Another important factor about book covers is whether the book is self-published or not. Certain traits could be poorly clear images, poor quality, and recognized font styles. But, these traits shouldn’t describe every book that is self-published. When a book cover is beautiful and well made, the audience wouldn’t even tell if it was self-published at first glance. Later on, if people found out that the book was self-published, they could realize that the author or team did a great job in creating a well-crafted work of art. Anyway, whether a book was self-published or not is helpful with identifying book covers, but it should not mean that a book is bad on the inside. Book covers may represent the meaning of the story, but nobody should ever judge a book by its cover!

     Now that that was said, book covers are an interesting thing about books. They can represent meaning, or they couldn’t, but they still are an important factor to books that could capture keen audiences. Whatever captures an audience could be the art and the story together. And, it is even more amazing when it was the effort in creating the cover to make it appeal to anyone.
