To some, the word ‘individuality’ could represent a shroud that distances us ...

To some, the word ‘individuality’ could represent a shroud that distances us from the world, a remoteness that separates us from each other.  However to penetrate these ‘veils of darkness’, one needs look no further than the root meaning of individuality.  Individual = undividable, inseparable, and indissoluble.  Nowhere does individual translate as isolation.

The ‘I’, the ‘me’ or ‘my’ that stands alone and breaks the beauty of the continuous flow of all existence, can disappear in language just as it can disappear in life when a view of the whole develops beyond the limited separate self.  Consciousness expands in the process, bringing compassion for fellow humans, inescapably embracing our oneness.  To be truly individual is to diminish, as much as possible, the I, which represents ‘the cause of all violence in the world’, with its ‘my country, your country’, ‘my race, your race’, ‘my religion, your religion’, ‘my culture, your culture’, ‘my family, your family’, ‘me, mine, ours, and theirs’.  A thought inspired by the wisdom of Jiddu Krishnamurti.

If ‘no me, no my, no I’ could become our mantra for life, a completely new world is possible!  Prolific in peace and love, a healthy world would exist, which nurtures, and is nurtured by, its one diverse family.

The world and we are in life together!  Our breath, our beings, our sun, rises and falls in the oneness of nature.  The rhythm, cycle, sound, and colour of life are an ongoing harmony linking all.  This is a movement functioning internally and externally to all beings, a life everywhere.  

No doctrine is needed for the moon, no policy for the sun.  The mountains exist without codes of moral conduct, as do the oceans, lakes, meadows, and trees.  Animals even live without complexity, always honest to instincts.  It seems the great gift of human intelligence has been also been our greatest burden.  The freedom of freewill weighs against the simplicity of nature’s beauty.  

To realize we are simple beauties of nature is vital to life.  Human consciousness must expand past the self, to embrace the whole.  When one is suffering, humanity and the world are suffering.  When one is going without, we are going without.  When one is not free, we are not free.

It is the greatest responsibility being an individual running in the human race.  While there can ultimately be no winning or losing, no ‘right, or ‘wrong’ ~ happy, healthy ways can only be positive to the vibration of the planet.  Nevertheless, it sometimes takes confusion, sorrow, and suffering to open a heart and a mind to the Greater Good.  

Ubuntu is an ancient South African term meaning, “a person becomes human through other persons”.  In whatever ways life brings us lessons, we can each be taught our individual humanity, and in turn, we can teach one another.  To link and express the harmony of all our hearts… is a supreme purpose of the true individual!
