Turning 73 years old on 08/24/2006 and looking forward to our 50th wedding anniversary 09/19/2006 has triggered in me a reflective pause.  I've come to feel I should contact each of the people in my life who are still living.  I'm currently working on that project.

An other project is to acknowledge publicly the great debt I owe to authorsden.com and especially the authors on AD who have been so helpful and encouraging to me.

This debt has been accumulating since 02/01/2005 and today the debt and interest on the debt has become huge.In particular the many authors who have left me reviews and comments have bouyed me up resulting in 214 works of mine posted to date, and 112,579 hits.

My participation in AD has been uneven.  The first few months I posted a piece every day from my pile of finished work.  Along with this posting I was reading and reviewing other authors.

July 14, 2005 my wife, Pat, fell on a wet floor in a public place damaging both knees. Pat has been a diabetic for 37 years so surgery was not an option.  Our Dr Baker ordered soft casts on both legs and complete bed rest.  Today, 14 months later Pat can walk about the house without cane or walker, but she has breakfast in bed every day. (She will probably not give that up..........smile.)

As a result, my writing was limited to my spare time left over from practical nursing, food preparation, shopping, medical transport, washing clothes and housework.  But my reading of others work on AD and posting reviews and comments fell away completly.

Now, today, I may be working my way back to normal, or what passes for normal around here.

My first project is this-to thank all the authors on AD and the website www.authorsden.com for all the help and encouragement I have received.  I've appreciated it so much.

Follows is an incomplete list of reviewers I've come to know.  When a new name leaves me a review the first thing I do is to visit their site where I can get a picture of them in my mind.  I also see what they are writing and where they live on this sphere we call world.

This is the list, incomplete for two reasons;  one, I may have missed someone through error and secondly, this list is as of this date and new people are constantly reading and reviewing my work.

Over 500 Hits

Today two of my postings will break through 500 hits each.  One is a poem, "My wish."  The other is an article, "Brothers and Sisters."  I am very happy about this for two reasons. First, because of all the material I have up on AuthorsDen.com these have been reader selected as being the most important.  Secondly, the ideas expressed by each of these pieces are an
expression of my way of doing things-my ideas of what I should be doing-my ideas of how I do my business and how I live my life.  In both pieces I speak my mind openly and sincerely.  Thank you readers of AuthorsDen.com. s/henry

Hits since Feb 1, 05 now 34,017
My Hits since I started on AuthorsDen.com are now 40,188 since Feb 1, 2005. I think of these as page reads. But the truth is I don't know where they are coming from. My guess,(and hope), is the are coming from people passing my material around on the internet. Sure, a lot of the hits are from readers on Authors.Den.com, but I've not put hardly any new material up for a month and still the hits are around 200 a day. This is what I'm looking for, as broad a readership as possible.

What I'm trying to do and how I'm doing it.

My goals writing poetry are two; develop readership, and write a few good poems.  I've been at it for about 5 years.

AuthorsDen.com seemed like a reasonable venue for me because two writers I admired were here. (Caryn Day-Suarez and Patricia C. Behnke)
