Hey There Everyone - this article suddenly disappeared and I don't know why. How about that? I'm pretty good with computers and programming so I'm sure I didn't accidently delete it. I wonder what that's all about.

Thanks, Jenn X, for a thought-provoking article. In response to the last posting, we (women) did do it! We are not victims and until we realize we are responsible for ourselves and stop blaming others (men, mothers, teachers, etc.) we will not grow -- we will be stuck in the past. Forgive (don't forget) and learn from the mistakes of the past. We have to put our energies into changing this perverted society. Individual integrity is the key. Our time on earth is very limited so we better change what we can - ourselves!

We didn't do it. Our teachers led us ASTRAY! We have to take back our own education. Take it back from the Hippies who have Doctorates. Take it back from the pimps who make movies and, oops, you can't block all of those Rated "R" COMMERCIALS!!! Our children are being raped right in front of our eyes, while Child Protection is worried about whether Mom yanked little Joshua's arm too hard when the wicked step-monster kept him up until one o'clock in the morning!!!

Make upped not a word? No Kidding!
The reality of the animal kingdom is that most of the males have the responsibilty of doing the primping, preening and strutting to attract female attention. Look at lions, peacocks, ducks, foxes, coyotes . . .I could go on and on and on with that but I'm sure you get the point. Check your facts.
Even in human history, it's been males in many cultures and time periods that have had to turn on the flame using their looks so even with us humans, beauty is not solely a female responsibility. Taking your history lessons from current media like movies and tv shows won't give you the whole scoop on that issue.
Maybe you should take the time to understand what the article is saying before you jump in with the comments because I don't think you got the point on this one.

Interesting article. Nice thoughts, but arguable.
If more women became comfortable in their own skin and didn't care what other men thought about their outer beauty, do you suppose perhaps men would start believing that fat, wrinkles, and liver spots are attractive? Nahhh - That'd take more intelligence than a man could muster...
Even in the animal kingdom, the female primps for a mate and tries to attarct him with her beauty. It's been no different for the female of the human species since time immemorial.
"Make-upped" is not a word. Perhaps you could have used "made up" instead.

Bravo to you girl for reviewing yourself. We as women must be our very own fan club, others will follow suit and become our biggest fans!!
Upon reading this again, I found there is truth in your words. If only women could realise that is all it takes to feel loved, honored, beautiful, and much more than that. We as women must dig deep to find the truth in ourselves. We are loved, honored, and beautiful no matter what others, man or woman, have to say. Does it take too much effort for some women to do the digging?

This was great! I'm always glad to read something that echos my own thoughts when it comes to women and body image.
