Near Death Experiences

Since ancient times, man has feared death and questioned if life beyond death exists.

Since early childhood, I have retained a strong belief of life after death. Those who have reported near death experiences in the past twenty years have raised the interest of sceptics and non-believers.

Many critically ill patients and survivors of NDE's have reported viewing a glimpse beyond the veil. Non-believers have questioned whether their experiences are valid or based on a biological trigger.

In 1982, a Gallop poll estimated 8 million adults in the United States have experienced a "NDE" and not reported it until now.

In 1966, I experienced a partial NDE during a surgical procedure, and later, during a skiing accident, I experienced a second. I had never heard of an NDE until Danion Brinkley's book, "Saved By The Light" was published.

Through research, I learned that through the centuries NDE's have been reported from many cultures and religious backgrounds. Though no two near death experiences are identical, a common pattern has emerged. The pattern includes:

1. A certainty that you have become separated from your body and are hovering overhead. Usually, one will be able to vividly portray the event and those present.
2. The subject is propelled through a tunnel where he or she encounters a brilliant white light at the end. Often he or she is accompanied by their guardian angel or a guide.
3. An intense emotion occurs; sometimes described as a religious experience or peaceful bliss.
4. He or she receives a message informing them it not their time to
pass over.
5. A spirit or spirits of departed loved ones appear.
6. A life review, presenting the major events of the subjects life, is presented.
7. An experience of enlightenment or an understanding of the universe is felt.
8. One is blessed by the appearance of a Light Being or holy spirit.
9. A barrier or obstruction is reached that cannot be crossed if it is not the subjects time. He must return to life.

In the December, 1996 issue of "George", the article, "What Does America Believe?" was run. The results were: 86% believe in God, 75% believe in life after death and 78% believe in angels.

Father Andrew M. Greeley, a best-selling novelist, states, "We are born with two incurable diseases, life from which we die and hope which says, "Maybe death isn't the end."

Sylvia Browne, renowned psychic , spiritual teacher and author, believes that the other side and spirits who live there are as real as the earth we live on, and that the only thing separating "here" from "there" is a thinly veiled difference in vibrational frequency. Many of us may have entered into a different vibrational frequency or perhaps, another dimension, during an NDE, bestowing upon us a glimpse beyond the veil.
