Mr. President, your comment comes too late. It does not take into consideration all you have done until now with Israel. I followed the negotiations that you forced upon Israel through Kerry’s mission to the region. Neither the Palestinians nor the Israelis were ready for these negotiations. Kerry was rude in his determination to accomplish the task you gave him. Maybe you were not aware, but many times his actions were insulting to the Jewish world and you were not very gracious either.
Your influence also led the Europeans to be against Netanyahu and Israel. Furthermore, the alliance you had Abbas make with Hamas was not at all appropriate. You have not shown any feeling when the three young students were kidnapped and then found dead by the hand of Hamas. Shortly thereafter Hamas rockets started to rain on Israel. We did not hear your indignation. Rather, the fact that you had arms delivered to Qatar and Turkey, Israel’s enemies, was very appalling. On the other hand, you blocked the delivery of Hellfire missiles to Israel. It is not this way that one helps a good ally.
Mr. President, I am 83 years old and a survivor of WWII, and I never ever expected that the US would react the way you did, as if Israel was not an ally. Mr. President, I have seen a lot of things in my life, but we never knew fear. We always believed that the US was our best ally, and it was, before you came to power. I am astonished, because there were the Jews who actually helped you win the elections. You cannot deny this.
Your recent position towards Israel makes me wonder a lot. You have not taken into consideration that the majority of Jews are Democrats. I believe that your actions are not positive for the Democratic Party. I now understand that you have your very own vision on how you want to change the US, although the majority of Americans in both parties does not share this vision with you.
As I read in the press, you refer to Netanyahu’s comments. Don’t forget that they are a direct result of your actions in the past, as an “ally”. You govern like a dictator, and I must point out that your interventions in several Arab countries, such as Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt have not been well received. That your policy toward Iraq and Syria has not led to positive outcomes everybody knows.
Here is my advice to you: be kind with the Jewish people including Israel, if you want to leave a good legacy. I followed your Cairo speech very thoroughly and I must say that you insulted the Jewish people several times. This proved to me that you do not know the Jewish people. We are a very old people and we have suffered a lot, but we are aware of the kindness and generosity of world leaders. Please do not forget that you are the leader of the greatest nation on earth.
If you want to see peace between the Arabs and the Jews, you will soon see it, but not the way you imagine it. I myself keep good relations with the Arab countries. Please keep in mind that the Iranians are not the best partners. They hanged one of my best friends, former Prime Minister Amir Abbas Hoveyda, who was an intelligent man of undeniable integrity, who spoke many languages and who, upon my advice, saved Tunisia from Gaddafi’s move to take it over. There is everything to gain with kindness and gratefulness towards the Jewish people.
