My mind is not a garbage can.
I don’t have to remind myself to take the trash out to the curb twice a week. Two cans full of the week’s tosses, plastic bags, things prized at one time and not needed anymore. Or are they. Things have changed now, from two kids to six cats and their ----stuff---. No to mention two dogs! Yuck.
Then there’s recycle day, the green plastic container filled with aluminum cans and glass bottles. Wait a minute here---I remember just a few years ago no one took the time to rinse, sort, rack and stack’em, then carry it the curb, rain or shine. So much trouble for trash, and we PAY to be delivered from trash. There’s even a place called Mount Trashmour I believe---a beautiful hilly part that used to be a trash heap.
From Hawaii’s Hurricane Iniki to Florida’s affinity to attract even more Hurricanes, trash becomes a key factor for sanitation and safety. Why---in Africa--- the camels take care of trash, just through it out in the street and they’ll take care of it for you---no mess or fuss.
Just as we need to get rid of household trash in our lives, we need to guard and protect about negative trash from the cesspool of mediocrity trying to enter our brains and show up later in our actions and attitude. That includes the mind controlling TV, violent video games, and generally most forms of entertainment and edutainment. Removing trash and forgetting about the bad things in our lives is not a trivial matter so we need to practice a little prevention before an onslaught of smelly attitudes creep in.
Everyday is garbage day, so either empty your mind of negatives or just notify someone your mind is not a trash can or garbage bag.
Oh, gotta to go now, my wife just reminded me to take out the trash! Friend, I wish you strength, courage, and fortitude to face the day.
