The Most Satisfying Place on Earth?

It took me more than 40 years. Forty years to finally realize that this Island Paradise is a special and satisfying place on earth.

Kaua'i is a lover's love. From the jet's final approach into Lihu'e Airport to the time you leave, every minute is an enchantment. Visitors and locals will agree their delight and satisfaction comes from nature's very own Hawaiian elixirs: miles of beaches kissed by the sun, blessed by omnipresent gentle trade winds, tropical plants, friendly mountains, and lush valleys.  

But don't take my word for it. You are probably reading this in a wrong setting. We are now in the middle of harsh winter: Boston is digging itself out of a fiery winter's blanket of snow and sometimes it is unforgivable to think of anything else more pre-occupying. Outside---you look---and is it bleak.  I used to think living in Ohio that winter was like a perfect Christmas gift that should be unpacked, beloved, then stuff away. The only problem: it decided stick around for another few more months. On Kaua'i, tourism hits a high note, not snow birds, but flocks of tourists and returning locals come to the Island to "warm up" and take-it-easy. Winter does seem to be a hopeless task, but you go through it anyway. But there is hope in the middle of the Pacific and Kaua'i awaits you...

But life can indeed be short. We see quick daily reminders of how short and fragile life really is. Ideas and wishes adorn our thinking and we deny ourselves the simple pleasures of life. Whether to not you decide to splurge on a trip to the Island Paradise of Kaua'i, take time to embrace and kiss your day.

But, if you excuse me, I have to start planning my trip back home to Kaua'i.
