I was so depressed for the inertia in the mindset of my leaders, that I wished to write a letter to the Prime Ministers of Pakistan and China and to the President of America, that you need not put effort to destroy our country.
We, as citizens, doing it by ourselves. So you please keep interest in developing your nations. I was so vexed then.

I am saying this only to explain the lack of confidence and the confusion in the citizens on the defence system of our country. So most of the country welcomed the tests.

I want to answer the questions raised against the tests on behalf of my government.

May 11th,98, the day which has to be inscribed in the Golden words in the book of Indian History. I very much appreciate the government for conducting the tests and naming the day as "A day of Scientific advancement".

I want to answer the questions raised against the tests on behalf of my government.

1) Questioning the time of conducting the tests.

So vague a question. Even children also will laugh at this question.

It is an open truth that China is supplying the technology illegally, at the same time, America sells its weaponry to Pakistan. But there is pressure on Russia not to supply the cryogenic model to India.
Those who are enemies do not inform us that we are preparing our level best for the war, so you too be alert. May be a war readily do not happen.(They have to prepare fully. So it takes time). But when "that time" comes, where will be the weapons and technology? If we do not conduct tests now, can we be ready? Does Prof. Abdul Kalam and Dr. Kasturi Rangan be alive to guide and use their knowledge?

2) Congress' allegations that BJP is trying to get credit out of the circumstances.

I am very much ashamed that such an oldest party to pose such a comment.
When Indira Gandhi won 1971 war, Vajpayee praised her as Goddess Durga. They never talked about the credits.

3) Regarding the peace question, I challenge everyone who campaign for peace to bring back the land occupied by shouting slogans, "Hindi-Chini Bhai Bhai". I challenge them to convince Pakistan not to promote Cross-border Terrorism. I challenge them to stop the enemy soldiers in battle field, by singing peace anthems.

If all these are not possible, how dare you to question the government?
You just spend one day in the battle field with the soldiers. You need not fight. Just be with them. You can understand, How cruel it would be , if we do not provide them the facilities which are on par with the latest developments in the technology.

4) Some citizens questioning about the Poverty, Food and common problems. How far a government can provide? We too must help.

Can't a citizen spend their one day salary per month for social service activities. Can't they voluntarily serve and work for the welfare of the poor and the needy by atleast spending one day in a month with the disabled or working in collaboration with such organisations which do service to the deserved. We can donate to such organisations.

We, as citizens, can provide food,shelter,clothing,medicines,education to our fellow citizens. The money with us is sufficient(if we all be united and devoted). But to conduct nuclear tests, Govt. only can provide money. We can't invent something as Scientists even if we pray god by sitting upside down.

5) For the remaining who murmur that India attained Peace thru non-violence. Does this tests necessary?

Yes, ofcourse. That is Pre-Independence. In the Post-Independence scenario, everything changed. We have to face three official wars, all are pre-planned and malicely designed against India.
You just stop the G-5 countries to cease the arms race. Let them fix the maratorium on their Nuclear tests. You can't do that, but preach manners to us. What a Shame!!

We are not responsible citizens. If we are, our country might be the super power with all its pecularities and specialities.

India herself never waged a war against anybody. She does not. She will not too. I am Proud to say that.
