So we all know the story about Noah and the Ark. God tells Noah to build an ark (super, super huge boat), because He is going to destroy the world and everything in it with a flood. Why? Simple - the people of the world were wicked, immoral and basically believed that God did not exist and they didn't need Him. Hmm...that's sounds familiar. So, anyway God wants Noah to take his family into the ark as well as two of every kind of animal. The reason? To repopulate the earth of course!

So, it takes Noah more then a 100 years to build this thing and he started building it when he was around 500 years old. Yeah, I know, but they didn't have all the transfatty acids we have today! So, for 100 years Noah is warning the people of his day that God was going to destroy the earth and that he was building an ark so that they could be safe. But of course they just scoffed at him and continued in their debauchery. The flood comes, people die and Noah, his family and the animals live. How does that reflect Jesus you ask?

In John 1:1 it says this: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning."

Notice that the Word is a He, that He was with God and was God and was with God from the beginning.

In John 1:14 it says this: "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth."

Who is the Word? Well, he became flesh and made his dwelling among us and he came from the Father full of grace and truth. The Apostles testified that they had seen His glory. If you haven't guessed by now, we are talking about Jesus.

So why would God come down to earth in the form of a man? That's like asking Prince Charles  to slum it with the common folk! Give up your crown, give up your palace, your riches for 33 years and come be one of us! Why would God do that? Because He wanted to make sure we were safe in the Ark of His Son.

The Ark of his Son? What are you talking about? Let me explain. Jesus came to die for you, to take away your sins. Why? Because God can't stand sin (He's too holy) , but He loves you, so He wants you to get into heaven when you die. But you can't get into heaven if you are loaded down with sin. Why? I already told you - God hates sin!

So, He says this to us: "My Son is your boat of salvation.  Get in, because I'm not sending a flood this time, this time I'm just going to get rid of the entire world! His shed blood took away your sins, so that when you believe in Him and repent of your sins, I will see you as clean and holy. I'm sick and tired of your sin. It's stench reaches my nostrils and angers and saddens me. I gave you everything you would need and look what you did! Now you have Global Warming! You did that not me! You allowed pornography, violence, and sex on t.v. and in magazines and now what do you have? Pedophiles and rapists. Not my creation - yours! You took prayer out of schools  and the authority away from teachers and parents to discipline their students/children. What happened? Your kids are drug addicts, disrespectful of all authority, murderers and just as immoral as you are! Your fault! Not mine! But even though I'm angry with you all, I still love you enough to provide a way of escape.  His name is Jesus. He is the ark that I want you to get in. Accept Him. He's my Son. He took away your sins and all you have to do is believe it, repent of your sins (don't sin anymore!) and live your life accordingly."

So do you get the analogy? Noah's ark was a safe place for the people to go to avoid the horror that was to come. Jesus, is our ark today and He's not about saving our physical bodies, He's more concerned with our eternal souls.
