An attempt to understand the true nature of dark matter and dark energy

                           CASTING LIGHT ON DARK MATTER

What is the true nature of light?  In how many ways does light energy participate in the evolution of the Universe?
An answer to this question might be found by considering  how light behaves as it spreads throughout the universe, having characteristic properties of both particles and waves.
To address this issue, we can try to understand what occurs at any point in space surrounded by stars and galaxies.  There would be wave-fronts of light energy moving outward from these sources in all directions; an ever-expanding sphere, filling the intervening space with its’ energy.  All of these  wave fronts would have to collide at the infinite number of points in the space that fill the universe; an ocean of energy waves coming together throughout the universe.
The distance from the source is a determining factor in how much light energy we are able to see.  Here on earth, we can only see a very small percentage of the light emitted by distant stars and galaxies.
What, then, happens to all of this emitted light, light that we do not see, traveling in all directions away from its’ source through the vastness of space?  Is it simply scattered by dust and gas as it journeys outward, or, is it instead involved in a more fundamental way in the evolution of the universe?  Could this light energy, then, be a form of ‘dark energy’; energy that exists, even though it cannot be observed from our place in the universe?
Would this process also account for the existence of dark matter?  This type of dark energy, light waves that we cannot see, fills the universe, and might be transformed into dark matter by the collision of
energetic photons coming from stars and galaxies.  These colliding light waves might produce a variety of energetic particles, just as man-made particle accelerators do here on Earth.

Would these particles then form some type of coherent matter, and ultimately, hydrogen.  If so, this could be a type of continuous creation.  The vast amount of dust and gas present in our universe has to be formed in some manner; a process that needs definition.
In summary, it is proposed that light waves, sent out from stars and galaxies, come together at an infinite number of points in space; and, as a result, form particles of dark matter, which might further evolve into elementary hydrogen.  A process of continuous creation in the vastness  of space.
If this is the state of affairs, it might be thought that the vast amount of emitted light and other form s of radiation would be ‘absorbed’ in these points of space, causing the observed expansion taking place in the universe.  It seems that this might occur, to also offer purpose to the enormous quantities of light emitted, rather than being emitted for no further function, but instead as contributing to the evolution of the known universe.
Nature is economical; simple, yet profound, and it seems difficult to imagine a universe in which most of the very vast amount of energy given off by stars and galaxies would be sent off into space with no further purpose or function.
The continuous exchange between matter and energy, in the vastness of space, would seem more plausible, than a universe existing  without total involvement of light energy in this evolution.

It's easy to speculate; it's harder to shed light on something. Very little for certain is known about dark matter, which is different than dark energy. Dark matter has been proposed because distant galaxies behave as if gravity is ten times more powerful than the mass of their stars. I'm not sure how astronomers measure total mass from distant galaxies. Nor do I trust they can estimate the total mass contained in black holes. Still, the excess gravity is definitely acting on galactic stars which move faster than they should according to the laws of motion as we know them. Hence, dark matter is related to the mysterious excess of observed gravity.

I have never studied thermodynamics, but I believe that dark matter and dark energy theories are fundamentally changing the way scientists view traditional thermodynamics.

Thank you once again for a simple explanation of a complex subject.
