After seeing a show at the Baltimore Museum of Art by one of my former teachers Brent Crothers, I realized how much my own art work had been influenced by him and how much I enjoyed the work I did in his class and how I had gotten away, for the most part, from art that a reviewer of one of my shows said, "blurred the distinction between painting and sculpture." So, for the last few days I have redone my website (waynebien.com) along with completing a new piece that gets back to blurring the distinction. But most importantly the feeling is back.

That peaceful feeling deep inside that delights me when something old, rusted, or broken that has been discarded by another acquires a new being on a canvas or in the spatiality of a sculpture and when I know it is finished and not stare blankly at what I have done and wonder if there isn’t something else I should add or change. I just know it is right by that feeling from a Great Spirit who comforts the questioning.
