My ANNUAL BITCH LETTER to AUTHORS DEN

D. Kenneth Ross

For all those who don’t know me and could really care less to change that sentiment, I herewith grant you your wish to a free unhindered pass to where the rest of us must go whether we like it or not, because we care one way or the other.

Having put up, in many cases the only valuable thing we have left— our words— , oh yeah, and our votes. We chose for you, good or bad, your future.

What the Hell am I talking about?? Let me explain. While your mouth was going a mile a minute about all those important things you had going on, like your new car with its turbo charged engine, or your new designer glasses, or your opportunity to see the Oprah Winfrey show in person, or getting your hair done, or the five star restaurant you ate at, you know, the really important things; the rest of us made some critical decisions that completely changed, for some of us good, or for the rest of us bad for the rest of our lives.

These decisions were about how we might save our country from bankruptcy and prevent our grandchildren and great-grandchildren from carrying a debt load that would prevent them from having even a moderate shot at living your American Dream.

We understood what the cost was going to be for a great many of us. That’s why we spent our time thinking about how to prevent exactly what has happened that you are now bitching about when something happens to interfere with your, oh so important, plans. You know the cruise you wanted to take? Or the new car you absolutely had to have.

A lot of us made the wrong decision. And you absolutely hate their guts for doing that. Some of us made what we thought was a better decision. Some of you hate us for that as well. I mean what’s wrong with us anyway, don’t we know we’ve got no business messing around with things we know nothing about.

Guess what? No matter which way we see it, I mean those of us who thought about it and made the effort to vote one way or the other, we stand so high over you folks who can’t be bothered that we tell you in all sincerity, You Suck!!

And then we go back to arguing among ourselves about how to correct the things you refuse to see as anything to do with your little world. Please pardon us for giving a damn.
