Imhotep continues to prepare the World for the momentous revelation of the forbidden history how the World was born and how the Gods quarelled over man and how they destroyed the matriarchs

(4)

the fourth night

and it was the fourth night at Kmunu being the end of his sixth day of pilgrimage when Imhotep told of

The birth of Man

Imhotep chanted:

Amon wept so hard on the bosom of Amaunet  She became so moved that the tears of Amon took with them the very heart of Amaunet being ingredients of her spirit, which mixed with Amon’s tears as  they fell on mother earth.

Where the tears fell a man weeping on the bosom of a woman sprouted from the warm  wet clay.

Amon was elated and made music that was the most sublime he ever emanated in the universe. Sublimely simple and sublimely complex at the same time.

The elation of Imhotep’s hearers was palpable. It quickly turned into expectant apprehension as Imhotep went on:

Almost instantly there was dissension, anger and rebellion in heaven .

the fifth night

the birth of man leads to the first Great War in heaven

Imhotep said overflowing with an amazing feeling. He yearned to hug all these masses of abused humanity  of all ages and sexes that squatted infront of him sometimes enraptured

Sometimes shocked sometimes terrified.

So you see my loved ones you, each one of you, were born the answer of the deepest yearning of Amon lovingly responded to by Amaunet and mother earth.

Do you realise how precious you are?

There were many exclamations of disbelief

Some wept quietly

…. And one of the listeners scarred and still bleeding after an inexplicable flogging by the soldiers of the local governor said:

Oh master,  any of the meanest servants or soldiers serving our new Lords will have any one of us kidnapped and flogged to death without a second thought. They do not even bother to inform his loved ones so they can give his body proper burial rites.

And Imhotep said

You may be laden with wounds and scars outside but be not scarred inside by the people with no music in them .

Beware the people with no music in them.  Beware the people whose bodies have divorced dancing. They have learnt how to hate. But Listen to me carefully as I tell you the story of your birth and the birth of the world. When I am gone,  remember that the world and yourself are singing their true story for always.Osiris is always singing his song for you.  All you need to do is to listen to the music, without being shocked, without closing the doors. The music from within and the music of the universe is so contrary to all we know to all we were taught. This is why it is so frightening.  But patience, listen, listen follow me to the end of my story and you shall understand .

At the end of imhoteps sixth night when he decided to leave Khmunu and head south towards Thebes. He climbed a hill side and looked east across the Nile. He looked towards the east where the Hadaba of mountains surrounding the valley curved eastwards towards the red sea as though readying the place to receive a great city. Imhotep conjured the city in his hearts eye and went into a deep weeping.

That night he did not speak or sing

The people were hushed and in awe.

When he came down Imhotep just repeated with tears in his eyes:

Great beauty followed by terrible tragedy

Great beauty followed by terrible tragedy

Great beauty followed by terrible tragedy

The people were baffled and frightened.

Great beauty followed by terrible tragedy was to to unfold in an incomparable city placed in  this womb made by the mountains turning towards the red sea.

Nights (7,8.9, 10)

7 days into his pilgrimage, Imhotep left Khmunu and proceeded South on the road to Thebes, Always following the great roaring river. 3 days into his journey he spoke nothing to his followers who became anxious ,deeply praying that Imhotep would speak to them.

It was already four days and four nights he had not spoken.

From Sun set to sun rise they were riveted around him as he went into meditations and chanting of a curiously gentle nature sounding bewitching sequences of chords and melodies on his harp. Imhotep would periodically appear to go  into  a deep trance facing the setting or the rising sun.

Those closest to him heard him weep many times then to their amazement they heard him laugh many times too. When the procession reached Abut (which will be known to the moderns as Abydos), Imhotep behaved like a child that had lost his mother in a crowded and noisy market. Every one around him could feel his sensory antennas switched full on as he searched and searched  till he found the desired spot .

Great master tell us about your weeping and your laughter.

And Imhotep said: I saw the sequences of creation from beginning to end! When I saw all from within I wept profusely.

When I saw it all from without I could not help laughing still with tears in my eyes, but follow me now we are in Abut

Imhotep said gravely we are in Abut: here in this spot has been buried the head of the dismembered Osiris.

Osiris has been murdered many times he has been slaughtered and dismembered.

Imhotep suddenly rose and shouted at the top of his voice:

Osiris is Not victorious his victory awaits you. All of you. You and you and you.

The populace were terrified of the tone and content of Imhotep’s pronouncement.

Beware beware of cult beware of ritual, they kill the essence.

Beware the priests of Osiris. Beware of murdering the Osiris drama by deification!

I see in this place the cult of Osiris rising to unequalled intensity and power while Osiris remains dead, isolted and banished to another world

The followers were shocked, confused and terrified

There were startled murmurs:

4 of the Imhotep followers erupted spontaneously into the following intoned in spontaneous chanting and dancing imitating with their mouths and hands the sounds of Royal and priestly fanfare

tum ta ta ta..tata tatatata ta....         (fanfare)

let's make yesterday's criminals saints today

tum ta ta ta.. tata tatatata ta.......

               WE ARE GUILTY

                              so the prophets say

               AND WICKED TOO

               tum ta ta ta......

          let's relieve some guilt

              redress some wrong

                                when it is safe

oh how elevating to the soul

let's have them in glass coffins

                                             preserved

                    with flowers and holy colours

their flesh is marble cold now

                                        oh lovely marble clean

                            with natrium and naphthaline

               their blood is stagnant now

                                   like a summer lake

                                   summer lake stagnant

oh how elevating to the soul

                              oh how safe!

let us STUDY these great men and women

                              at a safe distance

                              in glass boxes

                                   marble clean

                                   summer-lake stagnant

                                   naphthaline safe

                         ...............SAINTLY

and when we have finished

we shall write a book of rituals

                           and worship for a century

                                          or two

                                          or three

                                   or a thousand and three

the audience were perplexed!

Should they cheer or jeer? Condemn or applaud

There were however busts of hesitant applause scattered here and there.

Imhotep was filled with a warm glow. The process is taking place.

There were murmurs :Imhotep and his disciples are

speaking in riddles again

(11)

On the 11th night Imhotep warned: I will now reveal to you terrible secrets. Let the weak the fearful and the poor in their resolve go hence and leave.

Session 7 being the 11th night

the story of momentous happenings in heaven after the birth of man

At the birth of man and for the first time there was near rebellion in heaven the gods saw through the momentous happening. The unbridled joys and dancing and chanting of Amen and Amaunet inflamed them. There was a great hubbub in heaven to the effect of:

A freak thing has happened by freak Accident or through the tears of Amon  the god  colluding with the spirit of Amaunet falling on  mother earth

An obvious tripartite collusion!!

Look at them as they dance and sing!

A freak viable creature has emerged

It is not programmed like all else in creation

Not programmed and viable

That sounds impossible

thousands of free genes!

 what counters this dangerous unpredictability?

Creativity, learning,memory,observation, perception,language communication,  art, music ?

This dangerous aberration must be destroyed or stopped

Great division took place in heaven,

A whole host of new secondary gods were born out of the reaction and anger and resentment of the gods scheming and plotting the downfall of this new pair which seemed to everyone’s’ jealously to be the answer to Amen’s longing for milions and millions of years.  Most of the heavenly host considered the new creation a  betrayal by Amon and Amaunet of their trust and loyalty and incessant  obedience, to the letter, of  whatever law they were created subject to.

dissident forces and angry frightened energies at the birth of this upstart pair helped emerge new powers all designed to curb or fog the creatures awareness of his true nature and potential. Their brief: to hound the humans without let or mercy round the clock and leave them no space whatever for self perception:

upon this Imhotep decided it was time to leave Abut and lead his followers all hastening towards Thebes
