Simple things you can do to prevent contracting an illness while enjoying your meal.

While dining at a buffet or food bar, going to the bathroom before and after each trip to serve your plate may be challenging. Here are a few things you can do to guard your health and that of your family.

First, be prepared. Always keep hand sanitizer in your purse or on your person. Men, keep a bottle in the car and take it with you upon entering the eating establishment.

Second, do not touch your face, nose, or eyes during the meal. Have you noticed that some customers do this? Try to select foods that can be eaten with a fork or spoon, but if eating finger foods is avoidable, take note of item number three.

Thirdly, do not eat from your plate, licking your fingers while waiting in line. Always use hand sanitizer before going to the food bar and again immediately upon returning to your table. This helps to prevent the spread of germs from one person to another while handling the serving spoons.

And last, Never try to eat your money's worth. Your health is more important than money.
