In a 1953 confrontation, Joseph Welch, special counsel for the U.S. Army, silenced Senator Joseph McCarthy during hearings on whether communism had infiltrated the U.S. armed forces. “Senator McCarthy, Have you no sense of decency?”

Where is our Joseph Welch when we need him? “Mr. Trump, have you no sense of decency?” Somehow his attack on the Congressional Building and the Congressional police has been dismissed by Republicans as patriotism or a bunch of unruly tourists. Joseph McCarthy might as well have been Trump’s mentor. McCarthy was using fake communists as scapegoats to advance his political ambition. Trump used the border, Moslems and BLM.

And his political party is enabling him. It’s really time for them to disband. A majority defended Trump’s accusation that he was cheated out of the presidency when he lost by seven million votes. His niece had testified that her uncle is unhinged. He can’t admit that he’s a loser, so it just didn’t happen. How is it that the Republicans made advances in the House and warded off senatorial challenges until after the election. Were those people who fiddled with the ballots only concerned with the presidential election? How is it Biden lost Florida and Texas?

But it’s not just the election that boggles the mind. How does the party go along with using the pandemic as a political wedge issue? We’ve lost 630,000 lives because the clown who was supposed to protect the people wouldn’t wear a mask because he missed seeing his face. And now almost fifty percent of the population refuses to get vaccinated in the face of the Delta variant which could mutate into something even worse.

And yet there may be something even worse. How about climate change. The Republication party refuses to acknowledge that we’re in serious danger. 97% of climatologists agree that global warming is a catastrophic problem. With Seattle and British Columbia experiencing 115 degree temperatures, how do you argue. That’s 9.7 our of every ten climate scientists. But they know better. Actually it’s all that money they get from the oil barons. And yet carbon-based fuels will only last another hundred years. They’re rolling the dice, betting it isn’t true .

Another outrage is occurring in Arizona. The Republican senate majority voted to allow a partisan conservative group with no experience examining ballots hijack voting machines and hold an audit, which has lasted for months. Because of these clowns, the Arizona voters must pay the 64 million dollar price tag it will cost to replace these polluted machines.

It’s time to vote this party out of existence just like their mentors the Know Nothing Party who had a similar antipathy toward Catholics and the Irish.
