This evening, October 25, 2016 at the Center for Houston's Future annual fundraising dinner I will have the pleasure of listening to a talk by Tim Urban, a successful writer and online blogger who is an advisor to Elon Musk and Ted presenter.
Urban's talk will be about artificial intelligence and its implications for the future. Artificial intelligence is a subject of my earlier research and was the title of a monograph I did in 1973. My advisor advised me to change the title because there was nothing, "artificial about intelligence."
I am presenting the entire 12 page monograph here for your reading pleasure. I was rather naïve about publishing at the time, so I drew those little inset illustrations at actual size instead of much larger so that the publisher could have reduced them to better resolution. Shortly after the monograph was published, I realized that my drawing of RNA was not correct.
AI scares me so much Ron. We must be informed yet cautious in the fast track of this new era of living....I agree there is some new avenues of how it could improve life but there is always red flags too..Guess we as a world we will find out sooner or later):
AND SO HERE WE ARE 40+ YEARS LATER AND EVERYTHING YOU STATED IS TRUE...NOTHING TO FEAR AND DEFINITELY IT WAS HERE TO STAY. KINDA SAD THOUGH...THERE'S A BEAUTY THAT THEIR CHILDREN WILL NEVER KNOW. IT'S LIKE COMPARING AN OLD CLASSIC MOVIE TO A NEW ONE...THEY BOTH HAVE GREAT VALUE AND WORTH. A very fascinating monograph. I do admit that, when I was young it might have slightly scared me to think of the future and what machines and AI might be able to do. Of course by now I am in awe over the possibilities. I think I actually learned a few things from your text. The and comparison was impressive and enlightening.

When I think back of walking to the library to study or look something up using the Dewey Decimal System yet (!), in all kinds of weather, I envy today's students who have such vast information at their fingertips. What next???? Enjoyed!
