I was ripped-off for a penny

What goes around comes around.
I have no idea what that means?…yet…

Two years ago I got a raise in my Teamsters pension. A whole penny a month…twelve cents a year. I looked to pay off my house in 350 years.
They sent me a congratulatory message. I went out and got drunk. Tried to pick up a hooker in a bar but she was an undercover fed. I told her I was looking for some undercover work. She was not amused.
Put me in the hoosegow for soliciting. I got out by telling them I had no intention of paying her and showed them my empty billfold, which had not yet realized the penny increase.
They gave me a pat down for weapons and I asked if the hooker could do it. She was not amused again. I quickly realized that girl had no sense of humor
They saw that I was destitute and could not even pay for a tickle.
I was ready to leave but they kept me as a vagrant, which I found was more days in jail than soliciting, so I reverted back to it by telling them I was going to write her a check. She laughed.
The last time I was in the slammer they leased me on my own cognizance, so this time I was released on my own recognizance.
I have no idea what either means?

So, where am I going with this? Oh yeah, the penny raise.

I’ve been living high off the hog with the extra penny. Everything I did was first class. Price was never an object.

Now I’ve been ripped-off for a penny. The penny raise has been cancelled out. I’m back to where I was before. I don’t want to be back there. I want to be living high again. My mother always told me to keep my head up, but I must do the opposite. Maybe I'll find a penny?
