He: “Are you’re askin’ if your virtue is safe with me?”
She: Blushing, she refused to back down. The man didn’t mince words and neither would she. “Well, is it?”
He: “Safe as you want it to be,” he said finally.

She: “I have no intention of falling in love.” What a thing to be talking about—to a man, no less. A man accused of murder. “I have neither the time nor inclination for such nonsense. A woman having to please a husband and run a household can no longer pursue her dreams.”
He: My hat’s off to you, ma’am. You’re savin’ some poor man a life of misery.”

He: “Call me Rick.”
She: I’d rather not. Getting on friendly terms with a soon-to-be condemned man is like naming an animal you plan on eating.”
He: (A lazy, but no less suggestive grin crossing his face) “Do you plan on eatin’ me?”

He: “Is it true what they said? Have you been arrested?”
She: Her cheeks flared. “I’m afraid so. But it was for a good cause.”
He: “That’s good to hear. Nothin’ worse than going to jail for a bad cause.”
