My Web site, effectualhistory.blogspot.com, already includes more than 40 history-related blogs about people, places, and events. One of the more recent ones was on the Battle of Gettysburg, possibly the most pivotal battle in the Civil War. Yesterday, July 3, was the 146th anniversary of the conclusion of that three-day battle. President Lincoln admonished the Union's winning General Meade for not pursuing Confederate General Robert E.Lee, thinking such pursuit could ended the bloody Civil War two years earlier.
