I was fortunate to participate in two different poetry events. This was a very busy poetry weekend for me. Last night I was the only poet, along with a bunch of musicians, at Apotheca in Goffstown NH. Housed in the former railroad station,Apoheca has repurposed it to be a combination tea and pastry shop/florist's and local crafts emporium. In conjunction with the local public library, they host an open mike the fourth Friday evening of every month. IU did a half dozen poems, but it was an outdoor venue and I had trouble seeing in the twilight. Nevertheless, it was a lot of fun.
Today I was privileged to participatre in the local incazrnation of "100,000 Poets and Musicians for Change" a national initiative that talks abpout change in whatevrer form it might tkie. About 25 of NH's best mostly poets were given five minute windows, including Pat Parnell, Lindsey Cooms, Ed Pacht and Jimmy Pappas.
The event was hosted by the Exeter Unitarian-Universlist Fellowship on their lawn. It was a beautiful, sunny early fall day. Local poet and musician Bob Moore was the emcee.
This event happens all over the country about this time every year. Google them up. If you find one near you, participate if you can. It's a day you won't soon forget.
