Ahhh the rain! 1/9/2018 6:05:52 AM
There are some things that we take so for granted...or maybe we've just become accustomed to them. The midwest and east coast know the snow is coming in the winter and just accept it whether it's six inches or six feet high on the roadsides. The southern states just expect to have cooler...but still warm...temps all winter long. We who live in the desert states expect dry, brown, pretty much unchanging weather. So, on a day like today, my energy rises, it's easier to smile and there's that little niggle of excitement in my stomach. For, today, it's raining. Not just a spit and sprinkle like our desert is used to but a good old fashioned torrential downpour, flooding our streets, pattering our roofs, making puddles in our yards and, most of all, smelling so good. It does give me some indecision however...do I stay in and snuggle under a blankie with some movies or a good book? Or do I brave the elements and get out there to enjoy the raindrops on my face? I'm sure the residents of Seattle would say "it's just rain, people!" and they're right, but, when you don't have it every day, it's rain that you miss. So, decision made...this girl is pulling out the barely used umbrella and heading out to sing in the rain! (please don't listen!)
