A funny man has his story told along with the author who married him. The book continues from "Gandy Dancer" a Historical Novel by Lillian Ross and "Mewassin: The Good Land" the book that preceded "Gandy Dancer". They are both set in Alberta, Canada and are true stories of people and places (no name changed) about life in the northern bushland. "I Kept Falling in the Sink" takes the reader from the end of WW#2 to the beginning of the good times in the Boom Towns of North Central Alberta. The discovery of oil led to a new freedom of exploration - a new excitement and movement from life on the farm, to house trailer living - from "I can't find a job" to "I quit! I was looking for a job when I found this one!" attitude.
The economy was on the upswing and families were on the move. When Reg and his oil exploration buddy Al drove down across the Montana border just for the exhilaration of heading down the open road to taste new adventure, Al said at the service station: "What town is this?" "Havre," said the service station attendant.
"Okay," said Al, "I'll take 'er." And the fun and hi jinx began.
