All the things we know as adults, if we had known as children would we have rushed to become adults? As I remember back to a time when we went roller skating at the local Salvation Army. We couldn't wait until Saturday to go, all six of us girls, chasing each other, admiring the boys, dropping down as low as we could go and coasting on our skates, weaving in and out of large crowds and avoiding others who have fallen and couldn't get up. Those were the days.
The days when you had no bills to worry about. The scariest thing you had to endure was immunizations and an occasional loose dog. Those were the days.
Like back when you gathered up pennies for penny candy. When you chased the ice cream truck and bought a bomb pop for you and your friend. Back when you could go inside your friends house and they could go in yours and stay for dinner without your parents worrying too much about predators and such. Those were the days.
If we had known that life would change so drastically. Where there is no more trust. No sharing of sugar. No one lets you get in front of them in line at the grocery because you have less items. These days we have to be careful who deal with.
What happened to the days when we could lounge around in the summer in bathing suits? What happened to hop scotch, jump rope and jacks? Checkers? Red light/green light?
What happened to creativity? Imagination? Freedom?
If I had known I would be giving up believing in something I never seen.(tooth fairy,Santa Clause) I wouldn't have grown up.
