addiction and suicide Hello to my fellow authors and visitors to AuthorsDen. I am sad to say, that my uncle has had diabetes for several years. I use to go visit him and stay the night. His legs had gotten so bad, and they hurt him so much that I would massage them until my hands were sore. He had been a police officer for many years, but the diabetes became so severe that he had to retire early. His doctor had prescribed Oxycontin for his pain. He started going through the same thing I did when I couldn't work anymore. The depression sets in so deeply because you can't work and support your loved ones anymore. You feel worthless, and it's as though you're not the man of your house anymore. After he started taking the Oxycontin he wasn't the same. He became extremely mean and his wife left him. And to be honest, I don't blame her. He moved into a place of his own, and I would go visit him, but he became so hateful that I didn't want to be around him anymore. He had told me that his daughter was trying to get him into a nice retirement home close to her, and he seemed very excited about it. A few months went by and he called me to tell me that he loved me, and that he was checking out. I asked him if his daughter had gotten him a room and he said yes. I was talking with him and he hung up on me. I tried to call him back but his line was busy. That evening his daughter called me to tell me that he had killed himself. He had shot himself in the heart. That's why I keep saying that this has become such an epedimic in America. In every city and town, people are over medicating themselves on prescription pain pills, and it's tearing families apart. That's why I had my book published. It is my journal while I was going through a program to get off of the pain pills. This new medicine will get you off of these pills with absolutely no withdrawals. So please, my friends, if you know of anyone with this problem tell them about these stories and blogs, so that they can see for themselves that there is hope for them. They are not alone, and I am trying desperately to reach as many people as I can, to let them know that there is hope. I know that to an addict, it is a scary thought of giving up the pain pills because of the severe withdrawals, but my friend, they can do it without withdrawals. They don't have to feel afraid and alone anymore. It is truely incredible. Thank you for taking the time to read this. May God Bless
