I was doing some research on pain medications, and have found that pain medication addiction/abuse has been escalating at an alarming rate over the last decade. Research shows that in 1997, there were over 11 million prescriptions written for hydrocodone. In 1998, it jumped to over 56 million, and by the year 2000, it had reached over 89 million. Hydrocodone is abused for its opiat-like effects on the mind. It is highly obtainable, and addicts have been successful in bogus call-in prescriptions. It's time America, that we get back on track to help those that are addicted. As I stated before, there is now hope. Don't get me wrong, these pain medications are good for pain, if taken as directed and for short periods of time. But it has gotten out of control, and we've got to get that control back for future generations. God Bless
