Moving into 2015 12/31/2014 12:43:46 PM
2014 a year in review 2014 seemed to have it's own agenda. Although I had plans of my own, sometimes life just happens. My plans were for writing and moving forward with my life, instead I found myself biding for myself just as those I work with. As a Geriatric Case Manager, my sole purpose is to help those in need of accessing resources and finding the way into and out of the medical system. I had written many white pages on the various nuances of Obama Care.
What for me started out as a bad cold, was intact a flare of my autoimmune disease. Ok, this will last for a short time and then I will be back to 'my life'. Not so, as the usual medication for flares precipitated the growth of a tumor. After going through biopsy, I was told my health care would no longer cover the surgeon I was seeing. Changing insurances, was my option which I took and went ahead with the surgery. All went well and as we waited for the results from the pathologist, I attempted to get myself going again. Not truly feeling myself, this just seemed to be taking longer than I thought it should. Only to find myself in the emergency room one morning with the most awful pain. Once a cardiac matter was ruled out, the real science begin and 'no pain medication yet'. The emergency room physician came in to tell me although unknown what was happening my lab work was very specific that I was seriously ill. Long story short I was found to have a very nasty infection prompted by a gallbladder which had burst. At this point there were many problems and I went to surgery and then to a room.
This was definitely was not planned or wanted. After another several weeks of mending and taking care of myself. My household is comprised of an adult daughter, two spoiled cats and one blessing Sasha, my assistance dog - a Golden Retriever. As I moved through this time I have been so blessed to have all of my household right beside me. A daughter who stepped up to the plate and moved into a taking charge role; the cats who did not jump on me, but took to gently one foot at a time up to my chair; and my wonderful dog who took no time off but was ever vigilant to my needs.
I seemed to be getting stronger and was thinking I would be better and back at work, when my disease process decided to change it's role in my life. While before it was very ensconced in my respiratory track, it was now invading my skin. And so as I move forward into 2015 I am in treatment for my skin disorder as well as my respiratory needs.
Moving into 2015, I will take back my life, and with help, continue in a direction of my choosing.
