We are our brother's keeper. Elder Care is not just helping our fathers and mothers. Between medicine and legal matters where will we start and who will be there to answer questions/concerns.
The blog is made up of personal and educational sources. When first begun this journey is immediate and highly stressful. When we have children we are given nine months to prepare for the new way of life. Many find the beginning of being caregiver and advocate a crash course in a new life style. The language has changed, the guides have changed and our own life has taken on a new role whether we like it or not.
Some of us may have grown up in an atmosphere of discussions in the home being very frank. However these discussions were never to leave the house. We were not knowledgeable in the ways of taking care and assuming responsibility for a person who is for whatever reason unable to care for themselves. So if there was no need to help the elder community or to rush to the bedside of a family member or friend who was in a situation of emanates death. Most of us had not seen the body of a dead person, much less being in the presence of family as the preparations to march down the road of assuming the reasonability for another adult’s life.
All of this sound familiar? Well it should because in the U.S. our population is aging faster than it ever has. This means for every working person there is 1.5 people who are or will depend on that working person. We must make decisions for these people related or otherwise using antiquated laws and funding. We must decide where we will put our best practices to working for us.
