Too Young to Say Goodbye 12/9/2005 8:12:19 PM
Many of my fellow den members have been following my dear friend & mentor Jeff's progress. Sadly, I must share that Jeff passed away late last night (December 8th) most unexpectedly. How does one say goodbye to someone who has passed away far too young? Someone who had so much life still within him. Someone who offered unconditional love to every person he met. Please tell me how....for the time has come to say goodbye to Jeff, and yet, all I can manage are tears and shock.
No more tea at Starbucks. No more belly laughing at my horrid joke telling abilities. No more hugs "just because". No more challenging me to be the strong person he always saw in me, even when I didn't see it in myself. No more saying "Hiya Chief!" as he arrived in the office. No more sharing a hot chocolate and a few cigarettes with a homeless man, philosophizing about what was wrong with the world. No more exotic breath mints that he favored so greatly. No more stories about his comical cats. No more sharing of parental pride about his three sons. No more sushi jokes.
Gone far too soon. How does one say goodbye to someone who has passed away far too young?
