How to Go From Broken to Blest and Embrace the Healing that Awaits You 11/17/2017 12:31:02 PM
Moving from broken to blest in your life may sound like a lofty goal, but I’m here to tell you it really is possible! Everyone has a past, a present and a future—No one is exempt. Everyone has a need for healing at some time or another. We all have things in our life that are challenging or difficult for us at times. It’s all just part of the human condition. Yet sometimes we need to look at our past and present relationships and circumstances to get our bearings in the present, and be able to live in peace and plan for the future. Moving from broken to blest in your life may sound like a lofty goal, but I’m here to tell you it really is possible!
For Scripture tells us in the Book of Philippians:
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts, and your minds, in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Going from broken to blest is really about putting yourself and your circumstances in Jesus’ hands. It is not as difficult as it may seem, but it takes some level of resolve, and focus to move forward from whatever it is that is holding you back. Yes, we need to do our part, but we need to realize that God is in control. Actually, sometimes we are not fully aware of what is holding us back when we feel broken. Sometimes we don’t know why we are stuck in the muck and mire, so to speak. Yet, sometimes it can seem impossible to find hope, peace, and happiness. It is during those times that praying for peace and discernment of God’s Will can be most helpful. This life is a journey. Perhaps it’s time to make it an adventure and step away from whatever it is that is holding you back! Many times we try to run away from whatever is bothering us. Perhaps it is time to step toward our challenges instead of away from them!
Recognizing one’s brokenness is the first step in the healing process. We need to invite Jesus into every circumstance and speak life into whatever we are enduring. That means to acknowledge that Jesus is Lord over every circumstance and to use positive language, avoid negativity and embrace optimism whenever possible. Prayer and faith can give us the strength and courage to face any circumstance with God’s help—especially when prayer is difficult in times of adversity.
We need to evict negative thoughts with the understanding that we get to choose what we think about and focus on each day. When you look at thoughts simply as storm clouds passing through with a blue sky in the background, it is easier to usher in positive thoughts and remind yourself ‘this too shall pass.’ When negative thoughts get in, and start to shake your inner peace and resolve, it is possible and necessary to swiftly lead them out without delay as you would any unwelcome visitor, replacing those thoughts with positive ones.
A lot of times, forgiveness of others and one’s self is key to healing from the brokenness we experience in life. Forgiveness is key to being able to go from broken to blest, realizing improved mind-body health and wellness. It has the power to heal anxiety, worry, depression and for some people, even some medical issues. Unforgiveness can easily break down relationships causing disharmony and hurt feelings. As hard as it is, nothing can remove bitterness, brokenness and heal relationships more quickly than prayer and moving toward forgiveness. Unforgiveness is an unnecessary burden that can bog down even the strongest person, while affecting mind-body health, and even your attitude and perspective on life in general. The truth is, we have all sinned, made mistakes, and fallen short at times. The Bible tells us we are forgiven by God as we forgive others. What a sobering thought! Perhaps we should consider giving people a pass a little more often when they offend or hurt us. The Bible tells us:
“Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.”
Accepting your own imperfections and those of others is a great step toward forgiveness. Once we are able to forgive, we can begin to spend previously lost energy on diligently looking for silver linings in adversity. This has the potential to enable us to see the world in a healthier, more loving way, one that can bring rejuvenation and vitality into one’s life as we search for the upside, the silver lining, in every challenging relationship and difficult circumstance.
Finally, once you are able to live a more positive life, you are better prepared to embrace the healing that awaits you—healing that God has for each one of us as we seek Jesus in earnest. No that does not mean that you will live in complete happiness and harmony with others all the time. Nor does it mean your life will be easy. Rather, it means that you may live with great anticipation as you are able to pray, seek God in your life, and ponder with great excitement saying:
“I can’t wait to see what God will do next in my life!”
Prayer and faith are at the center of letting go of control in challenging circumstances, and deferring to Jesus when you have done all you can to make things better. They are key to moving from broken to blest in your life, leaving your brokenness behind, so you can embrace your new life in Jesus Christ.
What a relief it is to know that you are never alone in any situation—that through the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus will intercede on your behalf simply for the asking. Perhaps it really is time to begin living your new best life and let Jesus do his finest work in and through you.
