My Amazing Blessings from the Rubble of My Childhood 5/31/2005 6:46:29 AM
As a miraculous survivor of extreme and prolonged traumas, I want to help you deal with your personal problems. My unbelievable and almost continuous early-life sufferings have given me many blessings.
First I’ll recount my traumatic early-life episodes, which I had to suffer by the time I was only eighteen years old, so you may know what caused or created my unusual blessings. These episodes were: Fire bombings, Killer illnesses, Starvation, Homelessness, Intense floggings, School failure, Exile to another country, Culture shock, Extreme social isolation and Slavery. All in the literal meaning, the dictionary definitions, of these words.
For many years now, I have felt that I have had special gifts. Some of these gifts, blessings, have now been confirmed, and are the subject of the last chapter of “Invisible Heroes: Survivors of Trauma and How They Heal,” by psychotherapist Belleruth Napastek. This chapter is titled “Surprise Gifts: Blessings in the Rubble,” which describes them as being “Generosity, Joy, Compassion, Heightened Creativity, Survivor Power and Spiritual Connection.”
Because they can be of great help and inspiration to many people, it is my hope to get enough time in my very busy schedule to be able share, on this blog, my unusual insights and lessons, which I have had to learn in the hardest, and only, way possible. Through suffering.
