I feel that no one really has any idea what this book tries to communicate, and possibly nobody really cares about another person who has lived through tragedy. I hope that there are not any people out there, who feel that What Day Is It? is just another book about head injury. Perhaps, people think that this is just another sob story about what all I lost and how much I have lived through as if I am reaffirming that it is okay to live life with a disability. It is so much more than that. What Day Is It? takes head injury away from the person, through the family perspective, sets up a guide (if you will) about returning to independence when your identity is stripped from your personhood and talks about that 500 pound elephant in the middle of your living rom. I then take it a step further and show, how I took on the challenge to return to a judgemental society as a different person than had existed before my accident. Take that and chew on it.
