Father's Day...Oh girls listen to yourself...please.
6/17/2007 11:05:42 AM

Enjoy the reading.

In my work place I hear how the women I work with talk about their husbands, ex-hubands, boyfriends and can not believe how they belittle their man.

("It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.")

I belong to a rare breed...why...because I have been married 39 years to the same wonderful man.  My husband is not perfect by no means...no man or woman is perfect and as it takes two to make a marriage it takes two to break on up, (that includes when dating also.)  What happens after you're together for awhile?  Just what does come between two people who were made for each other...part from each other?

When Jim and I married my Dad said, "In this family we bury who we marry."  Think about that statement.  "We bury who we marry" tha't a powerful statement.  No matter what happens we stick together, we work things out.  So how is that done?

(Proverbs 17:14 "The beginning of strife is like letting out water; so quit before the quarrel breaks out.")

(Proverbs 19:13 "...a wife's quarreling is a continual dripping of rain.")

A car has a manual, appliances have a manual, computers have a manual, so to, humans have a manual, the Bible.  Let's just see what it says on a few things...women pay attention...though this is Father's Day...this message pertains to you.  Oh I know what you are going to say...well why me...what about him.  I'll tell you why you...no matter how hard you want to change your man you will not do it...it is not your job to change your man...in the "pecking order" of life the woman turns everything over to God who deals with the man.  And the man goes to God for his woman.  That doesn't mean you never discuss anything.  Of course you discuss things and come to mutual agreements...but without arguing.  That's the key...discuss without arguing.  How...don't put the "I" into everything.  "I" want..."I" need..."My" way is the only way.  Put "self" aside.  No, I did not learn this right off.  I thought my way was best.  Yes I was wrong and learned to do things the right way and that gives a happy home.  Family is not walking on pins and needles watching every word they say in hopes they do not upset someone.

(Proverbs 17:1 "Better is a dry morsel with quiet than a house full of feastin with strife.")

(Proverbs 17:27-28 "He who restrains his words has knowledge, and he who has a cool spirit is a man of understanding.  Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise; when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.")

And yes it is true...if you ask or tell your man something more than once it is "nagging".  I have discovered that when I ask Jim to do something for me...he has a mental list of things he plans on doing and he puts it on that list and it does get done without me constantly asking.  I see this same thing in my son and son-in-law and other men.  It's quite unique actually. (Yes I know there are exceptions to the rule but I am not talking of exceptins.  Even so, take it to God and let it go.)

I have a poem hanging in my bathroom and the last line is in very large letters which read "LET GO AND LET GOD!"  That basically sums it up.

No matter what the problem just let it go and give it to God.  Actually it should read "GIVE IT TO GOD AND LET IT GO".  Don't keep taking it back and hashing it over in your;mind.  Think on good things. "...whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." Philipians 4:8

Look how children play and work together.  They have little disputes, arguments, but it doesn't last long...soon they are back playing and having fun and enjoying each other.  That's how we are to be. Forgiving...and forgetting...because God is handling the situation.

(Matthew 18:21-22 "Then Peter came up and said to him, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?"  Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven.")

We can enjoy life just as the little children do...and we can be great in our jobs and in our homes and churches and what ever club or organization we belong to because we are going into this with our eyes wide open, our hearts full of understanding and love, our ears open to suggestion and our mouths shut to negativity.  Think of the outcome before a word is said and enjoy all your Blessings that our Father in heaven gives lovingly.

Hebrew 13:5 "Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have; for He has said "I will never fail you nor forsake you."

Proverbs 16:32 "He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city."

Proverbs 12:4 "A good wife is the crown of her husband: but she who brings shame is like rottenness in his bones."

Proverbs 14:1 "Every wise woman buildeth her house; but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands."

Proverbs 15:1 "A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."

Hebrews 13:5-6 "Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee.  So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me."
