Colt-Alpha Male & Assertive
Luke-Alpha Male & doesn't need to assert it
Lightening: ?
...a previous post gave mention to alpha male dominance & their dog fight. I though that fight was vicious...but I was mistaken...
2 day ago getting ready for bed Colt pounced on Lightening.
I grabbed Colts tail to off balance him and pull him off of Lightening.
They came out on each other with fangs & primal instincts in their eyes. As I drug away Colt, Lightening was no where near done gettin a piece of Colt.
I screamed for my daughter to help me, Thank God she was here. I had her grab Lightening's tail and pull him in the other direction away to the front room while I drug Colt down the hallway.
We are the alpha so we have to stop the fight, but not get hurt in the process!! My leg is so bruised from either paw claws or fangs...or both...the adrenaline was high for all of us. I may post a picture of my leg in an article to elaborate how serious a dog fight is...
So the cattle prod I mentioned...$40.00! And I will let you all know the results. I cannot have them fighting. Appears they are showing, or trying to claim early rights to breed with Pearl. But little do they know I have that all arranged. Colt and Pearl are going to breed so I can start my breeding business. I look forward to having my kennels built too. This is something I will thoroughly enjoy. Also with my kennels when the females come to visit for stud service I will be able to accommodate them better than in my home. It is complicated having a female in season inside my home with my boys.
...as for the training or reestablishing some pack order what I have been doing is using the shock collars on them throughout the day. If they so much as look at each other with an attitude I zap them at a frequency that is double what they actually feel for boundaries.
The shock collar is not meant to hurt your pet, it is a tool to aide and implement in having control of your pet. They need to know their property lines, and to stay out of roads, or to come when you command them to. If they don't listen you zap them and they learn the sensation. I also have a collar which zaps frequency but I can also use just vibration if I want. I love the vibration because they really listen to it.
So I have learned through talking to others about this issue just how serious it is. I will never be able to trust them alone with each other. (when I leave the house)
...also why are they fighting? They are showing their rank to each other. Lightening is now not the least bit interested in submitting to Colt, so...ensuing result...

I tell you I can hardly believe my sweet & loving natured Lightening would ever challenge the rank.
