Global markets. That was the buzz word the multi-national companies leaked intentionally. That set a tone of urgency for the worker bees. Compete effectively or face defeat at the hands of the Japanese workers. Then there were new management effectiveness programs initiated by every major company in the U.S. To make stake holders of every employee, to empower them with new tools of effectiveness. Slowly but surely every "mature" U.S. industry was put on notice. Compete or else. You are too expensive versus your global competition. Television and electronics jobs were being eliminated in America as Japan saw an influx of U.S. dollars to do the same tasks. Then Taiwan entered the fray. Suddenly, in every major industry, the multi-national companies were out sourcing jobs around the globe to capture the cost competitive advantages of the " cheap labor markets". Mexico, Canada,the Pacific rim were ablaze with new manufacturing facilities financed and built by the multi-nationals. Then, in the Reagan era, it was declared that the American workers were too intelligent to continue performing mediocre manufacturing jobs. They would start filling jobs in the exploding computer and related industries and in the service industries. High tech, high compensation, challenging jobs. We would leave the rest, to the emerging nations of the world. We would lead the technological revolution. What actually transpired was the loss of jobs and industries across the spectrum of manufacturing in America. And the high tech jobs! Suddenly were going to India and other nations too. Because we could not compete with their labor rates! And so today we find an America dependent upon many other nations of the world for everything from automobiles to clothing, food and even the weapons of our national defense. Gone is the magnificent manufacturing giant that could be almost totally self reliant. Gone is the synergy that created one of the most dynamic economies ever. Manufacturing employees, engineers and scientists no longer communicated in a cycle that creates, improves, discovers new technologies. We are now a lumbering giant at the mercy of China, India, Taiwan, Indonesia, South America and almost every other nation of the world for everything we consume. Consumer nations are the most vulnerable nations in the world my friends when they produce little or nothing themselves. And in the final analysis who has benefited from this massive restructuring of our economy? The CEO'S, CFO'S, COO'S, board of directors and upper management of every multinational company in the world! The wealthiest stock holders. And for the last twenty-five years the recruitment by these same businesses of illegal immigrants has compounded the problem by leaving some 25 million low skilled workers in America unemployed. Because they can't afford to work for less than the minimun wage, with no benefits. The illegal immigrants do so because their medical costs are born by the American taxpayers. They collect illegal social monies from American taxpayers. Most pay no taxes. They collect Social Security from a system they never paid a cent into. Yes, we have lost far too much at the greed of the multi-national companies. And they are lobbying relentlessly to get amnesty for those 35 million illegal immigrants in our country now! And the American citizens are not even whimpering, let alone complaining to the Congress! Why? Ponder this situation and see what final state you picture for Americans my friends.
