Blogs by Karen Lynn Vidra, The Texas Tornado Hard to believe Christmas is almost upon us once again...where DOES the time go???? 11/30/2004 1:10:28 PMIt seems the older I get (I am now 45; in five years, I'll be hitting the big 5-0 GAD!), the faster the time seems to go by..I remember as a kid and how the time would just seem to go at a tortoise's pace; now it goes seems to fly faster than a cheetah chasing after its prey.... As I mentioned in my new story I posted today (fiction), it seemed like only yesterday when it was Easter and we were waiting for the heralding of the summer season...now it is going to be a new month tomorrow (December), and Christmas is but only 25 short days away. We just had Hallowe'en and Thanksgiving; now Christmas is starting to show its presence, be it in the shoppers, the neverending advertisments of stores competing for the almighty consumer dollar, the lights and other decorations starting to appear in windows, on buildings, or on trees, or the songs being played on the radio. Just today I heard my first Christmas song, and while I love Christmas, it gives me a melancholy feeling because I miss the cold Ohio winters and the changing of the seasons (I now live in Texas; here the seasons seem to be blurred, and it usually doesn't get cold enough for my liking, and it hardly ever snows). My family members but one are seperated, and I miss them more during the holidays; I sometimes wish we could be together, but am unable to afford to see them.
