Living With A Dead Rat Under My Mobile Home 3/1/2008 9:39:31 AM
I first started smelling a strange odor 2 weeks ago. I did not know what it was and I tried to ignore the smell. The smell only got stronger until it reached the point where I had to bring in the big guns. My son came over and he check out my house thoroughly. I wanted to know if I had another leak and what I was smelling was wood rot. Thankfully, it was not wood rot.
We went to the back of my Mobile Home where the stench was radiating from and removed the skirting. The smell was worse under the house. Yes, it was a dead animal., we could tell by the strong smell. Looking in with flashlights, we did not see the dead animal. We had a good view.
Two years ago I had a dead skunk removed and a dead possum. I called the man who had removed the other animals but unfortunately he could not drop everything and come to my rescue. He expained this animal was probably hidden somewhere above ground and finding it would require and experienced person.
Part of my Mobile Home would have to be cut out in order to locate this creature. They love to hide in high, hard to locate places. It may take quite a while to actually locate the body. I made the decision to wait for the expert.
