We only live once, so time is of the essence.....TIME, how do we spend it? I found this wonderful scripture that relates to everyone, regardless of belief. It's from Ecclesiastes (11:4,6): "If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done. Be sure to stay busy and plant a variety of crops, for you never know which will grow...perhaps they all will."
Perhaps this speaks to me because, married for almost 37 years to my rancher/farmer husband, I've learned some amazing truths about LIFE from living and watching nature. Our lives are parallel in their relationship to TIME and its effect. Either we grow or we die; either we are tended to or we wither; either we seek the nutrients or good things of life or we perish. We cannot live beyond where we 'are' at the present. All things, all endeavors, take TIME. It can be our friend or our enemy, and certainly as we age, we begin to think of TIME as our enemy. Thus, it becomes even more important for us to pursue those things that reap benefits into our lives as well as the lives of others.
Franklin P. Jones wrote, "Time is a versatile performer. It flies, marches on, heals all wounds, runs out, and will tell." Hmmmmm. Perhaps we need to make TIME our friend....give it a chance to work for us?
Another quote (unknown): "Our days are identical suitcases -- all the same size -- but some people can pack more into them than others."
So, the question becomes: what are we going to fill our 'days' or suitcases with??? Meaningful and wonderful things or bitter, empty things that become a BURDEN and just a load to carry around.....?
