Book and Movie Trailers Should Differ

http://www.vimeo.com The obvious differences experiencing books and media don't always translate into appreciably different approaches to the creation of their trailers. I think that book trailers should wrap themselves around the idea of a book without "actualizing" the piece in a dominating cinematic representation.
Do you remember when book covers were simple, straightforward and perhaps a bit boring? Of course this has changed and it has made a great difference in sales. Motion graphics are to book trailers as graphics are to book covers. The purely cinematic realization of a book's concept contains a considerable risk because it has the potential to rob from both the author and the reader the right to "conjure" their own image and internal associations from the text.
Still, the economic potential of book trailers is great and suggests that the boost provided to those that use them might be comparable to the effect those beautiful covers have had on book sales...
