Tents spinning... prejudice winning.
1/16/2007 2:45:38 AM

I'm getting tired of Bull.
I don't know much about blogs so I read some of the author's blogs on A.D. and I get the idea it's all about just writing what I 'think' today...is that right?Well okay,I will try to do that.
Today was a little different than most days for me as I had a very hard long day yesterday after spending the day in the heat at a theme-park called 'Dream world.'
My teenage daughter dragged me all over there from early morn 'til late and we didn't arrive back home until well after dark. All in all we travelled by 4 trains and 2 buses to get there and back home and it took over four hours in travelling time.Whilst there at Dreamworld I took a ride on its scariest ride called the 'Tower Of Terror'.Before riding it I read its signs warning people (fools)NOT to go on it if they had 'weak necks, backs,or hearts.'I guess I am irresponsible/STUPID as I went on it anyway and as you can see,I lived to tell of it.
It wasn't that exciting really but it's a good memory of me for my daughter to keep and to smile about.
I slept in late this morning as I was exhausted from a day at the so called 'fun park'... my daughter also slept in 'but she stayed asleep until much later.
When I faced the morning I wore sunglasses to help me see through the cobwebs of old age.I felt like an elephant had stepped on me.Before lunch a friend and I had coffee and chatted on 'the state of life today' and 'the mess of the world'...'global warming and war.'
It seems such conversations are common lately with me and my friend,I guess we both can see The end brewing. We spoke on Mother Nature and how she always seems to wipe out things that bother her.Dinosaurs, for example, must have been eating all her greenery so she wiped them out.I spoke to my friend about my theory that Mankind will be the next to get wiped out...we (humans) have stuffed this world up pretty badly. My friend drank her coffee and politely agreed with me as when I get onto this passionate subject she has learnt it's easiest to agree with me than to tell me to 'shutup!"
I then spoke to my friend about my own disappointment in myself as at dreamworld I had experienced prejudice in my thoughts and I was feeling ashamed of myself for that.I had seen a bunch of Moslem women wearing the long garb that they wear (only moreso) as they had their faces fully covered ,(except for a slit for the eyes)and looked as if they were hiding under tents and I felt immediately threatened by seeing them. The first thought I had at seeing the largest of them was 'anyone could be under there,it could be someone with bomb or even could be Osama Bin Laden!!!"Well,it could have been, who knows?
I hated that they were hidden and that I could not see who it was or even what sex they were or what they had under that garb...it frightened and angered me.Then I realised that I was prejudiced against them and I tried to think differently but somehow I couldn't shake off the fear. They didn't fit into my culture but then I had to reason with myself and tell myself this world belongs to us all, even those different to me.I gave myself a kick in the butt and this blog is another kick in the butt. Why do I feel this way?Is it too late for me to change?Anyway I spoke to my friend about it and they sort of understood how I FELT.My daughter woke up as my friend and I finished our fourth coffee and my daughter declared that she was 'starving,'no wonder... it was afternoon. The rest of the day,we all relaxed.
It is beautiful here tonight in Australia,it's now 9.41 pm and as I write this I still am remembering that bunch of Moslem women spinning around on the rotating purple stingray at Dreamworld,I still can hear them laughing.I couldn't see their mouths, were they really laughing or was it a recording playing from some machine hidden under their tentlike clothing?Does it really matter?I guess not but as I remember my day at the weird and wonderful Dreamworld ,it seems to me that the only really weird thing that sticks out in my mind is my own reaction to them, those Moslems spinning around like tents on the purple stingray.Life is weird and I think this blog may also be weird too.
