Remembering to write names on pictures can help you remember times you'd like to share with your family members. When my sisters and I wrote our first memoir book, "Kaleidoscope Memories: Childhood Stories That Celebrate Family Life", we decided not to put pictures in with it. That may or may not be the case for the second book in the series we are working on now.
As with all memories, you browse through your family pictures and remember events that might be included in your book. What I came across several times were pictures of people that had no names or dates on them. Oddly enough, I didn't know who any of these people were and it really frustrated me. Here are some very nice, historical photographs of someones people - maybe mine - and I have no clue who they are or how to find out. So, my resolve is to always, always remember to label my pictures so when I'm no longer here, my family members will know who is in them.
It is important that we take care of our memories and pictures provide a very real, sight memory for us. You can write your memories without the pictures but how lovely that you can look at a photograph and remember a happy event that you'd like to share with others.
