A note about remembering the little things said by those we love. I have a little grandson who says the cutest things. They are those golden nuggets that we wish we'd remember years from now. They are so very precious that my sister and I decided to put them into a notebook titled, "Dustin's Ism's". We've collected quite a few that are funny, sweet, and eye opening little things he's said.
This got me thinking that I wish I had done this when my children were small. How many times did your children or someone you love say something special and you didn't write it down and yet tried to remember what it was exactly that they said? I remember only a couple of really cute things they said to me and I cherish them. I was telling my son, who was about 3 at the time, about Miami. I asked him to say the word, Miami - and he said your-ami. I thought it was so funny and cute, of course, we had him repeat it over and over again. The same thing happened with my daughter. We were going over the states names and when I came to Utah, she responded - I tall. Cute, little things like this always bring warm thoughts and memories to us.
So I thought I'd post this to let you know that, perhaps, you should take some time and write down some of the precious, funny, wonderful things your loved ones say so you, too, can remember them when you are needing to remember them from another time.
My son reminded me the other day that my mother always told him that she was his last best friend when he'd get into trouble when he was just about 5 or so. I can hear her saying that to him. My mother has since passed and it brought a beautiful memory to me.
I hope you do the same with your precious "isms" to share with those you love.
