Michael Jackson's death 6/30/2009 6:09:02 AM
A true gift to the world that was needlessly taken away. As a teenage in the 1980's, Michael Jackson was as much a part of my life as was my 1966 mustang and my feathered hair. I followed him over the years, watching him go through the dramatics of his life and all the fanfare along the way. My personal opinion of the man was he was very lonely. I believe he was a product of what society made him and was trying to discover who he really was. Sad to say, he probably never really found himself or true happiness. I offer condolences to his family, especially his precious children. If anything comes out of his death, I hope it brings more attention to doctors and handlers, who prey on the famous by controlling them through drugs - all for their own greed. If the close friends of Michael Jackson really cared about him, they would have stepped in and tried to help stop the madness that led to his final demise. Why did everyone turn a blind eye at what was standing so clearly before them? Now they have the rest of their lives to ask themselves that question. Tamera E Lawrence, author of THE POND
