Our elder cat, Ami had to be rushed to the vet last night. She has shown marginal improvement, this morning. It's only tiny, though. Her eyes are not rolling as much as they were last night, but she is still very wobbly and cannot judge distances very well. She is sitting by the front door at the moment, gazing out at the yard, so that's something she was not able to do last night.
She's not allowed to eat until this afternoon and we're keeping the younger cat in a separate part of the house so she doesn't kill Ami with her boisterous carryings on.
Ami was thoroughly checked over for ticks, by Sandra, myself and the vet as with those symptoms, that is the first thing you think of in this area, which is a cattle tick area.
She was not the only emergency case at the vets either. There was a dog with a tick, and another little pooch that had tried to eat a Cane Toad. The cane toad case was bad. The poor little thing was in convulsions when his owner came frantically through the door. We let him queue jump. He was in far worse condition than our poor kitty.
So we will just watch Ami for now. Ear infections can take up to three weeks to clear up, but thinking back over Ami's recent behavior, we're thinking that stroke is a distinct possibility.
