If you have read my book, "I Lost My Religion - When I Found Amazing Grace", you know that it is the story about my deliverance from legalistic religion and my new found freedom in Christ, because of the grace of God.
I am interested in starting a support group for those who have left legalistic religion behind or are considering doing so. My spiritual journey began when I began to question religious beliefs in adult life that I had accepted as a child. As a result I discovered that many of the principles I had been taught growing up in the church were not based upon the word of God, but strongly influenced my the traditions of men. Many of the spiritual conflicts I was encountering as an adult could not be resolved under the old belief system. I grew up in a denomination that is of the Weslyan/Arminian (or Holiness) tradition - a belief that teaches man can reach spiritual perfection while still on this earth. Salvation was never a certain thing - as one could live a Christian life for 99 years, commit one small sin at the last moment before death, and be eternally lost in Hell. Receiving a revelation of God's grace (something that was never preached or taught in the church in which I grew up) delivered me from a life time of guilt and spiritual hang ups and I praise God everyday for that revelation. If you too have had a similar upbringing and found deliverance or are seeking to be delivered, I am interested in hearing from you.
