The truth behind the, 'City of Gardens Collection.' The City of Gardens Collection
The book release of the, ‘City of Gardens: The Other Side of the Fence’ is only three days away and the Mayor’s office requested an advanced copy. March 1st, 2009 is the official book release and Victoria Human Exchange Society Fundraiser Campaign Launch.
Throughout the year, I have been ignored and have been considered loony bin material by Victoria City Hall. All of the sudden, I receive a phone call from the Mayor’s Office requesting an advanced copy of the book.
Now, my opinions are on paper and the city finally woke up. After several attempts to address the Mayor and Council and to be only ignored, it is now that I got their attention. They only have three days to read the book, hold an emergency meeting and decide my fate before the book release.
One thing to understand is that this is a private function; it was planned, financed and publicized by me alone. I express my freedom of speech which is backed up by thorough research and examination.
March 1st, 2009 is the launch of the five year awareness and fundraiser for the Victoria Human Exchange Society. I have been told by several supporters that this book is essential reading. Never before has a self published book ever caused a big stink before its official release in Victoria, BC, Canada.
The media jumped on it right away, and for those who have read the book found it extremely eye-popping. The city wants to put out the flame before it turns into a raging fire and I am intending to do the opposite. The people have been ignored, overlooked and neglected from the conversations behind closed doors. Only the upper echelons are in tune with what is happening. The front line soldiers have not the slightest idea as to what is going on, especially the citizens of Greater Victoria.
The City of Victoria is in for a real treat! I don’t recall anyone barking, just to be heard. This book series will do that and so will I. The profits from this book may be responsible for preventing a homeless person from dying on the street. This is my bottom line and I will forfeit my left testicle to stand up for what I believe in.
I will not answer to anyone, but my God and he gave me the green light. Convict me for my love and passion if you must, my dream will never die. For the hundreds who have died on the street alone and without a whisper of prayer from society, I will fight till my dying days, which may be sooner than I think for I smoke three packs of cigarettes a day.
All I ask of my higher power is to grant me five years to fulfill my goal and complete my circle of life. I have a mission in life and I will die fighting before anyone attempts to take it away from me. The public deserves to know.
Those lives lost on the streets were not in vain, I will give them a voice, a presence and a reason for being. Chew on that for awhile!
My personal wellbeing is expendable compared to the lost and forgotten souls on the street and those who have passed on before them. I am only one life and not an important one either. Victoria has a lot of real heroes that are doing much more than I can ever dream of and I salute them. I am just an old stubborn old fart that doesn’t know any better.
From my personal experiences, I have learned how to fight, and I sure know how to do that. I have fought my whole life against mental illness and a twenty-five year battle with alcoholism, I know survival and I am damned if anyone is going to tell me different.
This book series is my mind heart and soul and you can only kill my physical body, but I will live on forever. I have nothing to lose, but my life and that doesn’t mean #%$*&# to me! I have seen it all before, now I am telling you what I saw.
‘The City of Gardens Collection’ will become a guide to survival for the City of Victoria and no one is going to take that away from me. Call me brave or stupid, I will fit the bill. I live by love and nothing will change that. The worst thing that anyone can do to me is kill me, and that will never stop me from completing my mission. Even in death, I know I will win the battle. There is nothing that anyone can take away from me to stop my love for the mentally ill, addicted ad homeless of Greater Victoria.
