'City of Gardens: The Invisible Society' will be the meat and potatoes of this book series. You may have thought that the other book was a little rough around the edges and a bit harsh,that was just a set-up. THis book will deiver the message straight to your heart. The second book due out March 1st, 2010 will be unique as it will go deep into the hearts and soul of our most vulnerable population. Very seldom are they given an opprotunity to be heard, seen or acknowledged. The last book was a doccument about mental, illness addition and homelessness and the affects it has on the city. It also described the successes and challeges the city is facing implementing the plan to house and support 1,550 homeless people within five years. 'City of Gardens: The Invisible Society' will put meat onto the bones. You will hear first-hand accounts of stories from those who are the most affected by these conditions. Last year was an introduction to this issues. This year will focus on the reality from the streets.This will be the voice of the street people. We are very ignorant when it comes to our knowledge about life on the streets. This is why this book will deal mainly on their stories that will enlighten, educate and shock you. Statistics, figures and research all have it place. If you want to really address the problem, you have to go straight to the heart of it. To do this you need to hear their voice. This book will mix blood with the ink. Reports and surveys use the number system while 'City of Gardens: The Invisible Society' will put names, emotions and tears to those numbers. This will be straight from the horse's mouth. These people would know better than anyone else if the plan is working or not. The homeless count increased again last year despite the fact that over 200 people were pernamently housed and supported.Homeless people are still dying on the street in Victoria. They are still developing ailments due to the harsh weather conditions and the situations that they are subject to. Without proper nutrition, the mind and body is unable to function properly thus causing conditions that require medical attention in turn costing the taxpayer more money. If the public is more concerned about economics rather than human lives, the homeless situation needs to be addressed. Sick people cost money. Homeless people cost money. If this is your only concern, it makes perfect sense to house and support them properly thus saving you your precious coins. Those coins are stained with blood and tears. It is time to put human lives ahead of the world of capitalists' distorted hearts. Big homes, fancy cars and annual vacations is the most important goal that we strive for. It is more important than life itself.The voices from the street will take you to a world of nothing. With their cooperation, we are going to mix that blood with ink and strive to make you uncomfortable about yourselves. Our greed posions our hearts and souls with stone. Many of these people have nothing left but blood and tears. 'City of Gardens:The Ivisible Society' will be designed to tear your heart out and stomp on it. Perhaps by reading the book, you will realize how vulnerable you are too. If we can stop thinking always about ourselves for a minute, perhaps we will be able to hear the cries of others. If we try hard, it may even make us to stop and think.
