I'm not sure what the rest of the Country is thinkin' but, Down here in TX where I have spent the biggest part of the last two days and nights trying to figure out what the hell could have snapped in that dude's mind to make him feel like he needed to go on a shooting rampage on an army base, is just still beyond me and apparently many others down here too.
If you read the comments section of the local news stations that are covering the event, if ('event' is what one would want to place that under') nobody can figure out just what that idiot could have been thinkin'. Or, was he?
I've heard everything from he had PTSD to he was just another radical Muslim to, he just wasn't right.
Well, I'm nobody's expert in human behaviour but, knowing and understanding all I do, I'd say, none of the above. I honestly believe that he had decided that he could not and would not go into war and that was his way of opting out. And so he did. He truly tried to commit suicide (somebody should have told him that his choice of ways to do this were not always fool proof) because unlike "the bombers" the people that are shooting back may not be as good a shot as those plastic explosives the bombers use are. So, I think he was trying to be a supposedly good Muslim by destroying the infidels, and just plain goofed. Oh, that's right, he wasn't an Extremist was he? Well, he wasn't a bomber anyway. He did however take 13 of our soldiers and civilians down and wounded about 30 more. Now, in my book and the way I see it. That's pretty damn extreme.
So he was either a radical; an extremist; or just a sorry piece of low life crap one or the other, take your pick because I'm not so sure he wasn't a bit of all of it.
Now, some are calling for them to pull his life-support and let him die and some are calling for them to just take him out and hang him, I myself, I think they should do their best to save him, afterall wasn't it his will to die. I certainly wouldn't want to give him what he wanted to begin with. Seems a bit too easy to me. The only way those that have lost loved ones can get any real justice is to make sure he doesn't get what he intended in the first place.
